I also battled an eating disorder for most of my life (I was a dancer before becoming a yoga instructor, and I was weighed weekly by my teachers at a very impressionable age, which started the long cycle of self hate). I am so careful as well with how I speak of my body in front of my little sponge and I am still debating whether or not I will even allow my daughter (who will be 2 next month) to take ballet lessons as it may be a beautiful way to enjoy physical activity but there is a huge stereotype that sadly comes with it. I think I’ll start her in yoga and let her choose the rest, but I will never allow anyone to tell her how she should look physically in order to fully participate in something she loves! Fuck that!!!
